Part 1

Examiner: Hello. My name’s Miss White.

Examiner: Look at the picture. This is a girl’s bedroom. The girl is reading a book.

Examiner: Here’s the chair. Look at the hand on the chair.

Examiner: Where’s the robot? Put the first hand on the robot.

Examiner: Where is the bird? Put the second hand on the bird.

Examiner: Now look at the small picture. Which is the chicken? Put the chicken on the bed.

Examiner: Which is the lemon? Put the lemon next to the lamp.

Examiner: Which is the shoe? Put the shoe on the chair.

Part 2

Examiner:  Look at the dolls. What colour are they?
Student: Pink and blue

Examiner: How many dolls are there?
Student: Two

Examiner: What’s the bird doing?
Student: Singing

Examiner: Tell me about the girl.
Student: She’s reading a book.

At this beginner level, these exercises provide confidence to speak at this basic level of English.

There are materials specifically concerned with a particular grammar structure at this beginner level of English, useful for when it is being introduced for the first time. The main structure at this level is the Present Simple and you will find resources for this as well as others such as frequency adverbs.

There are resources at a beginner level that will give students practice in listening and writing. At this low level, the writing materials are generally short phrases or sentences.
