Set 5 of our practice exercises Part 3 of the Cambridge English B1 Preliminary Writing Section. This is an example of how to write an informal email to a friend explaining changes to their hometown after they have been away for some time. It is set at an Intermediate level of English or B1 on the CEFR Scale.

Please note for the real test, it isn’t a gap exercise. You are asked to write an informal email using about 100 words.
