Shopping Exercises
Shopping Exercises focuses on the basic vocabulary and structures needed for social interaction and everyday experiences. There are puzzles and quizzes to reinforce your learning so you feel confident using different texts about shopping.

bargain — something sold for less money than it is usually worth
receipt — a piece of paper that proves you paid for something
till / checkout — the place in a shop where you pay for your items — both words mean the same thing
customer — a person who buys something (not to be confused with the assistant, who helps them)
change — can mean the money given back to you after paying — or the verb meaning to swap something (different from exchange, which means to swap a bought item for another)

Vocabulary Tip
Group shopping words by type to help you remember them — people (customer, assistant, buyer, salesperson), places (market, store, supermarket, department store, shopping mall), and money words (cash, bill, receipt, price, charge). Watch out for change and exchange — they look similar but mean different things.
