Daily Routines
This unit, Daily Routines, is all about describing your everyday life. You’ll learn how to talk about your morning, afternoon, and evening activities, the times you do things, and how your routine may be different at the weekend. You’ll also compare your routine with teenagers from around the world.
What You’ll Do
- Talk about your morning, afternoon, and evening routine.
- Ask and answer questions using the present simple and time expressions.
- Write a short paragraph about your daily routine.
- Understand short texts and videos about other teenagers’ routines.
- Practise vocabulary for time, meals, and activities.
Activities
🎯 What you’ll practise
Listen carefully as a teenager talks about his daily routine, and notice the new words — and the Present Simple — he uses.
📌 What to do
Watch the video of Alex talking about his daily routine. Questions pop up as you watch — answer them as you go. You can pause or replay any time.
🧑🏫 For teachers
- Use the video to check listening comprehension and familiarity with a teenager’s daily routine.
- Encourage students to replay if they find it tricky.
- Discuss the answers together afterwards to reinforce the language.
✍️ What to do
This week we’re learning to talk about our daily routines. Write a short paragraph to tell your classmates about your day. You should include:
- at least 5–6 sentences about your daily routine
- time expressions (e.g. at 7:00, after lunch, in the evening)
- at least two frequency adverbs (e.g. always, usually, sometimes, never)
- then reply to at least two classmates — ask a question or say something you have in common
💬 Example
Hi everyone! I usually wake up at 6:30 a.m. and eat breakfast at 7:00. I always go to school by bus. After school, I do my homework at 5:00 p.m. I sometimes play football with my friends in the park. In the evening, I eat dinner and then go to bed at 9:30 p.m.
🤝 Reply to a friend
If you’re studying with a friend, read their paragraph and reply to it — say something nice or ask a question. This sentence can help: “That sounds fun! What do you do in the (morning / break time / etc.)?”
