Exam Tip
In Part 5 you won’t always hear the character’s name — listen to the description and work it out (long hair and a tall tower = Rapunzel; glasses and a magic wand = Harry Potter). Match each person to one character; some options (A to H) are not used.

Part 5: World Book Day Characters
You will hear a boy talking to his mum about what his friends are going to wear to World Book Day at school. What book characters are his friends going to dress up as? For each question, choose the correct answer, A to H.
You now have 10 seconds to look at Part Five.
Mum Matt, is it World Book Day at your school next week?
Boy Yes, and everyone has to dress up as a character from a book.
Mum That sounds fun! What are your friends going to wear?
Boy Well, Maria loves fairy tales, so she’s going to dress up as the girl who has very long hair and lives in a tall tower.
Mum Oh, Rapunzel! That’s a great choice. What about Kim?
Boy Kim really enjoys the stories about the boy who goes to a magic school. He’s going to dress up as the main character with glasses and a magic wand.
Mum Harry Potter! What about Jack from your class?
Boy Jack is going to dress up as the man who lives in the forest and helps Snow White.
Mum A dwarf! And what about Amy?
Boy Amy loves the story about Alice. She’s going to wear a blue dress and white apron, just like the girl who falls down the rabbit hole.
Mum Alice in Wonderland is a wonderful story. What about Sam?
Boy Sam is going to dress up as the little girl with red hair who lives with her father. You know, the one who sings “Tomorrow” in the musical.
Mum Annie! These all sound like great costumes.
