A1 Listening Part 3 Fancy Dress Party (Transcript)
Bill is telling Peter about a birthday party he went to last weekend. How did each person dress up for the party?
Boy: Oh yes! It was great!
Man: Did you dress up in funny clothes?
Boy: Yes, I did. I wanted to be a chicken, but Mum said it was easier to be a sea animal.
Man: Were you a fish or a shark?
Boy: A shark! And everyone was frightened of me!
Can you see the letter D? Now you listen and write a letter in each box.
Boy: When my uncle came to the party, everyone was frightened, too!
Man: Was he a shark too?
Boy: No. He was in green clothes and had an ice cream. He looked funny and scary.
Man: Oh I see! He was a lizard!
Boy: I thought at first he was, too. But he told me he was an alien!
Man: And your brother, what was he?
Boy: He wanted to be someone from a comic book. But Mum told him it was easier to be a clown.
Man: Really? I don’t think he liked that!
Boy: It was OK. My brother thought it was funny and we all laughed when we saw him.
Boy: Everyone laughed too, when they saw my aunt!
Man: Why?
Boy: We all thought she was a cat because she loves cats.
Man: Wasn’t she?
Boy: No, she told us she was a rabbit. But she was white so we thought she was a big cat!
Man: And how did your sister dress up?
Boy: You know her! She loves the sea and stories about pirates!
Man: So, she was a pirate?
Boy: Yes, that’s right. But Mum wasn’t happy. She wanted her to be a beautiful princess!
Man: You didn’t tell me about your cousin. How did she dress up?
Boy: I like her, but sometimes she is very boring!
Man: Oh?
Boy: She wore her mum’s white coat and said she was made of snow! We all thought she was a doctor, at first!
Now listen to it again.
