In this A2 Listening Part 1 activity, a boy tells his grandma about a day at the beach with his friends. Listen, match the names to the people, and check your answers.

You will hear a boy talking to his grandma about a day at the beach with his friends.
N: Part 1. Listen and look. There is one example.
A: Grandma, please have a look at this picture of when Uncle Jack took my friends to the beach last weekend.
B: It looks wonderful. Look, Uncle Jack is putting on his sunscreen.
A: Yes, it was very sunny last weekend. He went swimming with us, but spent most of the day in the shade.
N: Can you see the number and the name? This is an example. Now you listen and write the name next to the number.
B: Can you tell me about your friends, then? Who’s this?
A: This is Sarah.
B: Is she swimming with a boy?
A: Yes, she is. She’s the one wearing a pink swimsuit and a sun hat.
B: So, who’s she swimming with?
A: That’s Michael. He’s wearing blue swim shorts and has a red beach ball. They’re in the same swimming class. Can you see my best friend Lucy?
B: Is she the one building a sandcastle?
A: Yes, that’s Lucy. She loves building sandcastles and collecting seashells. Sarah is her cousin.
B: She looks very creative. What about the boy playing with the Frisbee?
A: Do you mean the boy playing with the blue Frisbee?
B: Yes, the one wearing green swim shorts. What’s his name?
A: Oh, yes. That’s Jake. His brother Tom is playing with the orange beach ball. He’s got curly hair. They both love playing beach games.
B: And what about the girl with long brown hair sitting under the beach umbrella?
A: Oh! That’s Emma. She loves reading books on the beach. Uncle Jack is under the umbrella, too.
B: Oh yes! He looks very relaxed.
A: Yes, it was a perfect day at the beach with my friends. We’re going to the beach again tomorrow. Do you want to come with Uncle Jack?
B: I would love to, dear, but I’m off to the market with your mum tomorrow.
